Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to commonly asked questions about our material lifting solutions, specifications, and services.

What is the maximum weight our material lifts can handle?

Our material lifts feature varying weight capacities based on model type:

  • Standard Lift Series: Up to 650kg
  • Heavy Duty Lift Series: Up to 1000kg
  • Compact Series: Up to 350kg

Each model is clearly labeled with its specific weight capacity, and we recommend maintaining a 20% safety margin below maximum capacity for optimal performance and longevity.

How long does assembly and disassembly of the lifts take?

Most of our material lifts are engineered for rapid deployment. With proper training, the Standard Lift Series can be assembled in approximately 10-15 minutes by one person.

Our Quick-Lock technology allows for tool-free assembly in most cases, and the modular design means components can be easily transported through standard doorways and tight spaces.

Disassembly typically takes 8-12 minutes.

What safety features are included with Prolift material lifts?

Safety is our primary concern. All Prolift material lifts include:

  • Automatic braking systems
  • Reinforced base plates with outrigger stabilizers
  • Overload protection mechanisms
  • Dual redundant cable systems

Our Heavy Duty Series also features auto-locking at each stage of elevation, emergency manual override controls, and high-visibility markings.

Each unit undergoes rigorous safety testing and is certified to meet or exceed European EN 1495 standards for lifting equipment.

Can your lifts be used outdoors or in harsh environments?

Yes, our lifts are designed for versatility across various environments. The Heavy Duty Series features weather-resistant aluminum construction with specialized coatings for corrosion protection, allowing for reliable operation in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +55°C.

For extremely harsh or corrosive environments, we offer marine-grade options with additional protective treatments.

All outdoor units include specialized stabilization systems to account for uneven terrain and wind conditions up to 12.5 m/s (28 mph).

What warranty and service packages do you offer?

All Prolift material lifts come with a comprehensive 2-year manufacturer's warranty covering structural components, mechanical systems, and winch assemblies. Extended warranty options of 3 or 5 years are available.

Our service packages include:

  • Semi-annual or quarterly maintenance inspections
  • Priority technical support
  • Operator training
  • Discounted replacement parts

For high-usage applications, we recommend our Premium Service Package which includes on-site emergency support within 24 hours throughout Ireland.

What training is required to operate your material lifts?

While our material lifts are designed for intuitive operation, we recommend proper training for all operators. Prolift offers complimentary basic operator training with each purchase, covering:

  • Assembly procedures
  • Safe operation protocols
  • Weight distribution principles
  • Basic troubleshooting

For industrial or construction environments, we provide comprehensive certification courses that comply with Work at Height Regulations 2005 and the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007. These full-day courses include both theoretical and practical components.

How do your lifts compare to hydraulic or powered alternatives?

Our winch-operated material lifts offer several advantages over hydraulic or powered systems, including:

  • Lower maintenance requirements
  • Reduced risk of fluid leaks
  • Greater portability
  • Operation without external power sources

The manually operated winch systems provide precise control with our patented multi-stage braking mechanism.

For applications requiring frequent height adjustments or very heavy loads, we do offer powered options with lithium battery systems providing up to 100 lift cycles per charge while maintaining the portability our clients value.
